February Budget and Economic Forecast (February 27, 2026)
The FY 2026-27 projected balance of Minnesota’s budget is now $3.7 billion, $1.3 billion higher than November 2025 estimates.
Gov. Tim Walz Releases 2026 Capital Investment Plan (January 15, 2026)
On Jan. 15, Gov. Tim Walz announced his 2026 capital budget for the upcoming legislative session.
$113 million for water and wastewater infrastructure, including $106 million to support grants and low-interest loans, and $2.15 million to help remove contaminants.
$50 million in trunk highway bonds for high-priority pavement projects.
$5 million for the Local Road Wetland Replacement Program.
$35 million for unspecified local government projects.
$5 million for various types of public infrastructure related to economic development.
2025 Bonding Bill (June 10, 2025)
The Minnesota Legislature passed $700 million in general obligation bonds, including:
$176 million for water and sewer infrastructure through the Public Facilities Authority.
$78 million for local roads and bridges, wetland replacement, and major bridges.
$26 million for public housing rehabilitation.
$15 million for metro area inflow and infiltration work required by the Metropolitan Council.
$9 million for projects on the state flood hazard mitigation list.
$6 million for infrastructure to mitigate drinking water contamination.
$3 million divided between grant programs for economic development infrastructure.

January 20 Executive Order pausing IIJA and IRA disbursements
The new federal administration signed an Executive Order that requires all federal agencies to immediately pause the disbursement of funds appropriated through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA).
